As a seasoned world traveler, photographer, and travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for a unique, clean place to stay. Although I find myself usually in higher-end hotels, now and again, I will seek to get away from the norm.
The cabin at The Drop Inn was the exact place that I was looking for in a vacation retreat. The Inn is about 20 minutes from Niagra Falls proper in the middle of the country.
The cabin in itself was comfortable, immaculate, and tidy. The surrounding area was beautiful and peaceful, with the sounds of nature echoing throughout the night. It was a great place to stargaze with no city lights to bother you.
The well-kept home is situated next to a small, grass-field airstrip on occasion used by skydivers. No planes were taking off or landing at the time, but after working over 20 plus years in aviation, I can attest the noise would be minimal and short-lived. The surrounding yards were well-groomed and enough beds of flowers to brighten your day. A morning cup of coffee on the back porch overlooking the spacious yard and airstrip brought a couple of sightings of deer and three hummingbirds within a foot from us.
You’ll find not too far from the home all the conveniences to supply your visit. There are a few food places and small markets in Youngston. But if you’re coming from Niagra Falls, you should stop in Lewiston to purchase your groceries at bigger markets. Old Fort Niagra is nearby and a nice break from the hustle and bustle on the falls themselves.
You’re in the country, so expect a natural setting that includes surrounding wildlife and insects, woods and quiet. Keep your expectations realistic as Jumping Jay is accurate in describing The Drop Inn. I only had one issue to contend with and that I was unable to stay longer! I will return to this beautiful home!
Check out The Drop Inn the next time you’re in Niagra Falls, NY.
